About Me

My photo
Writer, artiste, critic, debater, public speaker, pianist, singer, actor, pretty much a jack of all trades, that's me, 16 years old and going strong. My friends say I'm good at what I do, but honestly, I think I'm little more than mediocre. This is the story of my life.

Roleplay!

I have, in all honesty, spent the entirety of may roleplaying. I can't really say that it's a great past time for everyone, but I like it.

It's like the holy grail of literary inspiration. Playing while not knowing what your fellow roleplayers will do and adjust to that, it's a great experience.

I've actually created a wiki for my roleplays, but that's where it ends, a compendium of knowledge that is large but kept by only one person. People are attracted to my roleplay because of my wiki, but that's just it, I need roleplayers and at the rate they're trickling in, it's becoming a real nuisance. I don't really have many people joining and there really are only five of us roleplaying in my major roleplay and of that, one is an irregular roleplayer. That, my friends is my achilles heel.

Many people say that my roleplays "Rock," "Kick Butt," "Pwn," or that they're "Awesome," "Cool," or maybe even "Epic." The thing is, it takes them having to read the plot before they even say that. Okay, well, maybe not the entire plot, but just the introduction to the plot. Still, though, that makes things pretty complicated.

I know that if I join more roleplays and demonstrate my skill there, I can become more popular and attract more members. The thing is, in the listings of roleplays, the epic ones have already taken off, and the new ones aren't quite my speed.

I play fantasy roleplays, but I like overly complicated story arcs and I hate cliche'd save the world stories. I'd appreciate a save the world story with a witty twist or a unique element to it, but the thing about that is that few people can pull that off for the sake of it.

I try to think up original ideas, but usually they are daunting for the new roleplayer. I tend to play in the more advanced roleplays that focus on character development and momentum for the story. I have an entire array of characters and personalities in my arsenal, however, I really am frustrated because of the fact that no one else would like to join my RPs.

I've tried PM'ing more advanced Roleplayers, and they all show interest in my Roleplays, however it's a very inefficient way of recruiting. I've tried witty titles and those designed for attention-catching, but alas, it has all failed. I occasionally do come across willing people who join my roleplays but sometimes that's limited to one or two per roleplay.

My first roleplay though, on the DragonAdopters Forums was a success. Many people joined after a time, but some dropped out as the story progressed. In the end, out of almost ten joiners, only four of us remained. Some due to personal causes, some because they lost interest.

Don't get me wrong though, I have one roleplay that has been more successful than most. It's called World of Sylfe, and it is set in a really intricate world with a large backdrop of lore to it. Some people say that that adds to the experience and I could agree with them, because I myself appreciate roleplays that have an amount of effort put into them.

This kind of Roleplay, I hate:

You are a dragon, the fate of the world hangs in the balance, and unless you can find the gem of sanctuary, all is lost.
That, is my worst nightmare, take it from me.  People who appreciate faster-paced roleplays might find this interesting, but for me, it's not.

If anyone actually reads this blog, and if you actually roleplay, please leave a comment. I need help from the Roleplay experts. Should I try to attract people who are new to roleplay and would be more willing to join roleplays, or should I try to attract the veterans who would be harder to please, but at the same time, better versed in roleplaying and can make the experience more fun?

Haggard...

It's been a while since I last posted. Somehow I cannot find the motivation to even write anything here. Anyway, let me sum up what has happened these past few weeks.

Apparently, my creative juices have run dry and have gone high in the course of two weeks, much like a roller coaster. I've been on a roll both in visual arts and in the art of the written word. I've just finished the 11th chapter of It all Began and Ended with a Tree and I'm one chapter away from finishing it.

I have to confess, I have become very much entangled in the story of Dave and Elle. Mayhap it's good practice too so that I can put emotion into the piece.

On a side note, I am writing another story right on the heels of It all Began and Ended with a Tree.

Asking about the title? It's "Pippin Periwinkle Plethora Eidolon Kurtpatrick Johannes Evangelista Francisco, Fortunately the First, Hopefully the Last." YES! I know it's a weird and long title but hey, it's an attention catcher anyway.

That's all for now. Ciao!
